lisle head.

In my own words

Same engine.
Different destination.

I had a $50 million target, a helicopter in my dreams, and was willing to have a heart attack to get there.

Then a barefoot stranger asked me one question.

This is what happened next.

The Scorecard

I lived in a 5,000 square foot house on a private country club.

Luxury cars in the driveway.

VIP and bottle service every weekend.

I was number one in every sales room I ever walked into.

From the outside, I was top of the world.

Inside, I was chasing the wrong thing.

I hadn't played golf in years.

I lived on a golf course.

That should have told me something.

Nine Days

December 15, 2005.

The 17th hole at La Iguana, Los Sueños, Costa Rica.

I got paired with a barefoot golfer who played 300 rounds a year and surfed every morning.

I told him he was living my dream.

He asked me why I wasn't living it.

I didn't have an answer.

I flew home and sold everything in nine days.

The house. The cars. The businesses. All of it.

January 4, 2006, I landed in Jacó with a bicycle and a 350 square foot apartment two blocks from the beach.

I didn't know what I was walking toward.

I just knew what I was walking away from.

20 Years Building

This is not a story about a guy who quit.

I never lost my drive.

I just stopped pointing it at the wrong things.

In 20 years here I built vacation rental businesses, development projects, and sales teams.

I spent eight years at Vacasa, helping grow the business from bootstrap all the way to going public.

Watching what going public does to a company was the last thing I ever wanted to contribute to again.

I also lost.

In 2021 I lost nearly a million dollars on a development when the water association reversed an approval we already had.

I still had my health, my family, my house, and my ability to earn.

Fifteen years of inner work got tested that day.

It held.

Today I lead sales at Sanara Conchal, building luxury homes on the Gold Coast of Costa Rica.

Same engine as California.

Different destination.

The Foundation

Five years ago my daughter asked to play soccer.

I looked around Jacó and found almost nothing for girls.

So we built it.

We grew from 40 girls to over 100.

We won national titles.

We helped multiple girls earn full ride scholarships to college.

The HEAD Foundation stands for Helping Everyone Achieve Dreams.

That is not a slogan.

It is the reason I get to do everything else.

Now

I have been married to Ana for 17 years.

We are raising our two daughters in the town I moved to with a bicycle.

I coach men who are exactly who I was in 2005.

Successful by every external measure and quietly exhausted.

I teach what took me 20 years to learn.

Letting go of control is the only goal I have left.

I have not arrived.

I am still practicing.

Every single day.
